Twilight Goodies to Shriners Hospital for Children

Our first Twilight writing contest is now officially over! Although we were unable to reach enough people and receive any entries, our efforts were not wasted as of yet:
We have found a home for our generously donated Twilight items at Shriners Hospital for Children located here in Honolulu. They will be part of goodie bags that the hospitals create for incoming patients. For those of you who may not be familiar with Shriners, they are a pediatric hospital for young patients that provide medical services at no cost to families.
Not only are we planning to donate Twilight items, but some new books as well! These will also be used in patients' goodie bags or in the hospital library.
We're thrilled that our efforts are still being put to good use, and thank you once again to all our contributors!

Bella in Paradise Twilight KickOff Contest

Are you a highschooler and love the Twilight series? Do you like to write? Well if you answered yes, read on because this competition is for you!

This is the very first (of hopefully many more to come) contest brought to you by Bella in Paradise, a group devoted to promoting the joy of writing in Hawaii's young avid readers. It is open to all highschoolers in Hawaii who know and love the Twilight series. You don't have to be a serious writer to enter, we are accepting submissions of all writing levels. We are only here to encourage you to write, write, write!

Contest Rules:

-Entries on the following topic will be accepted starting July 22nd through August 6th, 2010.

-Any Hawaii state highschool student may enter (all entrants must have their submission approved by their parent or legal guardian unless over the age of eighteen.)

-Entries must be between 300 - 500 words in length, and not contain inappropriate language or material.

-Only one entry per person will be accepted.

Topic:

-Who is your favorite Twilight character, and why? Do you relate to one particular character? How so?

To Enter:

-Submit your entry via email to bellainparadise@hotmail.com by the deadline. There is no fee to enter.

-Please have your entry within the body of the email, not as an attachment.

-Be sure to include "KickOff Contest" in the subject heading.

-Please also include your name and age at the bottom of your entry.

-By submitting an entry, parent or legal guardian grants Bella in Paradise the right to post winning entries on its website, as well as use the submission to promote Bella in Paradise's cause.

-Email addresses will not be used for any commercial purposes, only to notify winners.

Prizes:

-The grand prize winner of this contest will receive a Twilight goodie bag from Bella in Paradise as well as a $10 Borders giftcard!

-2nd Place will receive a Bella in Paradise Twilight goodie bag and a $5 Borders giftcard!

-3rd Place will receive a Bella in Paradise Twilight goodie bag!

-Winners will be notified via email by August 13th, 2010.

-Our Twilight goodie bags contain items ranging from t-shirts to bookmarks, you'll never know what you get!

Judging Criteria:

Our select judges will choose three entries (one grand prize winner and two runner-ups) that they feel best meet the topic of the contest, as well as feel are clever and insightful. The decision of the contest judges will be final. By entering this contest, all participants as well as their parents or legal guardians agree to these guidelines set forth by Bella in Paradise.
